Call for papers

We are pleased to announce that Current Research in Egyptology (CRE) XIV will be held at the University of Cambridge, UK, from 19th to 22nd March 2013.

The theme of this year's conference is "Crossing Boundaries" and we hope to encourage contributions from a variety of backgrounds covering multiple aspects of Egyptology and its related fields: modern & traditional approaches, archaeology & philology, field work & theoretical concepts, multi-, interdisciplinary and collaborative research, only to mention a few. We invite papers from postgraduate researchers and independent scholars studying ancient Egypt and Sudan, from the pre-historic to the Islamic periods. Themes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Art History
  • Ceramics
  • Cultural and Foreign Interaction
  • Current Fieldwork
  • Geoarchaeology
  • Material Culture
  • Museum Studies and Site Management
  • Osteoarchaeology/Human Remains

  • State Development
  • Trade and Economy
  • Zooarchaeology

  • Presentations may be either a 20 minute paper or a A0 poster presentation.

    Abstracts should consist of no more than 200 words and should be submitted by 31st October 2012 to You will receive an email confirming receipt of your abstract. Confirmation of whether your paper has been accepted will be sent via email by 15th December 2012.
